The Taras Shevchenko School of Ukrainian Studies will host a
Mykolai Show and Holiday Bazaar/Bake Sale
co-sponsored by
The Washington Group
on Saturday, Dec. 18th,
2010.
Students
in Svitlychka – grade 5 will present a Mykolai program, “Mykolai
– Super Hero,” at 12
noon. Anhelyky
(angels) will be needed from grades 6 and up. Please contact Darka
Nebesh with any questions about the program (dnebesh@hotmail.com).

After the program, Sviatyi Mykolai himself will meet with
each grade/age group and distribute gifts. For Nebesna
Kantseliaria (‘Heavenly Office’, 9:15-11:45 am),
please bring only one gift per child ($2 fee), clearly labeled with
the child’s full name and grade or age group.

The
Bazaar (9:30-12:00) will include home-baked goods (torte
slices, fancy cookies for your holiday cookie tray, medivnyky,
kolachi, children’s sweets), varenyky and vushka
(frozen), and holubtsi; all proceeds from
these sales benefit the school. Other vendors will also sell
books, cards, gift items, etc.
A
limited number of torty may be pre-ordered for
$45, and picked up at the bake sale table during the bazaar (some
torty will also be available for Thanksgiving, new-calendar
Christmas, or old-calendar Christmas, but the buyer must arrange for
pickup). For a list of available torty, please contact Lada
Onyshkevych (lada2@verizon.net)
in early November. Limited numbers of varenyky and
vushka may also be pre-ordered with Marusia
Sloniewska (amsloniewsky@verizon.net).
Interested
vendors may contact Lida Shevchik
(Lydia@evropashop.com
- BE SURE TO PUT “VENDOR” IN
SUBJECT LINE). Rates are $25 plus 10% of sale proceeds. Current
